Garth McQueen 04/04/2003 08:57 AM Morning Mark: Not sure you made it in this morning with all the ice and snow. Certainly would be a good time to be going south. And talking about things going South....yes that was our game last night. Not sure it was the layoff, or the constant late games or the fact we played the Fat Boys again but the end result was a trouncing. I know I had been saying we were pulling together as a team but last night we collectively Yanked. It is too painful to go end by end so I will keep this at a summary level: Score: Fat Boys....many many points I think 8 or 10 with 5 ends....CTFS: very few points 4 and 3 ends. The Fat Boys again had a strong team from top to bottom. I think they were pretty confident because even though you need 4 players in the Play-offs, most times they only had 3 on the ice. I believe they were taking turns going up stairs for a few cold ones and returning when they felt like it. I am sure they did this because by the 8th end their 3rd couldn't even stand up and fell while sweeping. All was not bad and there were a few highlights for our team. I would just a little more time to try to remember. However, it was great to see Mauro draw to the button in one end. We will need that draw weight next week where a BIG win will be required if we have any hopes of getting to the dance. Right now we are 1-1 with 10 ends. That should be good enough to keep us in the hunt. Perhaps the scheduler will take mercy on us and we can once again return to the 5 o'clock draw. The big thing right now Mark, is to regain our confidence. We need more retirees to play. Try to perk up the boys when you see them. We will not go down without a fight. (but if we end up on sheet 5 and win... George and I will NOT sell tickets ...we called it!!) Mark Pioli 04/04/2003 09:40:36 AM Ouch! sounds like you might of been better off with 3 or less on the ice and more in the bar. Here is a pick me up, an old press clipping reflecting the first meeting with the FAT Boys " Having Pioli involved always brings a different perspective to the game....curling is about drinking beer!!! (this explains why it is hard to reflect..the game is somewhat of a haze this morning...Bruce even had an extra one!!) Conclusion: we lost. - score was I think 8-5 We are prepared for the play-offs and I can see Saturday in our schedules (of course that could be the banquet but let's think positive). " Of course the score was a lot closer, but the team had a slightly different look I believe I was playing that night. Good look getting to Saturday hopefully you will remember curling is about drinking beer...... as you watch the finals from the bar. Garth McQueen 04/04/2003 09:54:25 AM This Man has gifted insight. Truly STratum 2 material. I vote Pioli for Fitzpatrick's job
