Garth McQueen 10/17/2003 08:55:00 AM Dear Mark: Once upon a time Yogi Bera commented " it was DEJA VU all over again"... and so it was. Once again, we opened the season against Marty's team (a perenial A & B flight contender). This didn't dappen our spirits and energy abounded. Heh..Mike's first shot made it past BOTH hog lines. We were inspired!! The guy has a lot of passion. He also had tight jeans that just about cut his legs off. Getting back to Deja Vu. We had them reeling for the first 5 ends with everyone stepping up to the plate. Take outs, guards and draws were all in place (I am using some technical terms so Mike gets the lingo). Then low and behold, our opposition seemed to wake up. They stormed back kicking our ass for the last 3 ends stealing the game from our tender hands. DEJA VU As I reflect back, I think I see the turning point. Up until the 5 th end they were in awe of our "Tim Wakefield" knuckle baller. Mike's uncanny ability to slide left and shoot right had the opposition in turmoil. They never knew what was coming!! And then like golf...our Spring Swing was over and we started to think we knew what we were doing. Disaster.... For our first night, it was a great outing. We truly were in Mid Season form so that bodes well for the upcoming season. We also took the pressure of going undefeated out of our minds, which quite frankly, was starting to weigh on me. We can now relax and enjoy our march to F flight champions. I can picture the piper, marching us to the podium already. Give us your weak, Give us your cripples and bring on the Seniors. We're Men with Brooms and the season awaits. PS. Congratulations to Mike Milink for a great first game. He is still a virgin in the win column and is very anxious to break his ...you know what. (Picture of the 8th end just before we shook hands - we were Blue and I mean blue) Bruce Clark 10/17/2003 10:29:15 AM Garth: The wait was worth it!I have been able to discard all my penthouse, playboy etc. magazines and have found gratification in in the most current edtion of the Pioli Papers. The off season was almost to much to bear as I could only imaging what tantalizing tales would appear. I may have found paradise by the dash board lights but reading the Pioli Papers under the harsh lighting of an office environment provided a climatic release not experienced since my teenage years or when my life partner and I consumated our everlasting love. Thanks for the Hand!!! p.s. As I indicated maybe I am the only one who appreciates your efforts. I think you could provide a mouthful to those other wallflowers.
