Garth McQueen 10/31/2003 09:02 AM We will rise up from the river Phoenix and wreak destruction on the earth...We will drink the blood of our enemies...Mark: call the Generals together, we will attack the fleet at Pearl on December 11 and victory will be ours... WHooooooooooooa.... this winning thing is addictive. Sorry, I got carried away with that awesome display last night. How proud we all should be at the level of play demonstrated. You could hear the jingle of those 16 bells in that swagger I spoke of last week. See, I have been consistent in saying that we were playing well in our first two games. You know you are feared when our previous opponents commented on our victory and our next opponent begs off for more practice time. I can't remember a time when so many people where riveted to the windows upstairs, noses pressed against the window, juggling for position.. just to see our shots. The game was well in hand but they all were there. Actually they were lined up 2 deep downstairs as well. You don't suppose they were waiting to see if we would blow the game or that they were waiting to get on the ice..do you?? We laugh in their face... We Are Men with Brooms (boy, I hope we don't play the Chicks with Sticks...they sound mean). Now to the game. Yes, we were very much on our game and everyone made the shots that were needed. Of particular importance was the Management of the Game (sort of like course management in golf). The ability to take charge when we had to and give up a point when it was prudent, relieved a lot of pressure in our later ends. I should mention that our opponents were a real team, 4 guys who knew how to curl and to this point in the year, they were sitting in 2nd place overall. I actually overhead them talking about the provincials. I am glad we showed them what the competition would be like!! If only we weren't so busy on the weekends, we would be there too!! Very proud of our skip. Oh yes, your personal trainer "John Labatt" would be proud of your efforts Mark. There wasn't a pop of the knee or a scream of pain from you all night. Your fitness program is certainly working. The team dinner was certainly a show of your determination. Maybe it was our time, but I believe by placing the picture of Randy Ferby in the Papers provided positive imagery for the team. Once again, HR leads the way for Performance Improvement. I will continue my efforts to work on our mental game. The brain is as important as the game. I just wish I had something to work with!! PS. Mike: we are all ready to bring you to the promise land. Fear not, you too will drink from the cup of victory...and the taste will be sweet. (even sweeter if you buy the round) See..even Guy Hemming will do the Half and Half Mark Pioli 10/31/2003 09:20:44 AM Who knew that eating 3 pieces of pizza, 5 chicken wings, drinking 3 10oz glasses of beer and inhaling 2nd hand smoke would be the perfect pre-game meal. This should become an essential component of our curling fitness regime. I believe that if we keep up with this pre-game program we will enhance our posture, athletic performance and in no time have a great looking body. Remember, sit ups are for losers
