Garth McQueen 02/20/2004 10:29:56 AM They say in Hollywood the stars are out all day long,, but in Welland town, the Stars only come out after 8 (now Mike that doesn't mean after being 8...but Happy Birthday anyways). Gentlemen: We played 3 strong against a team, a meer 4 points behind us. They had a full compliment. To remove any anticipation, we won 8-7 and took 6 ends giving up a charity 4 in the 8th but finally we were in a position to take our first rock in the eigth out of play to keep the house open....just like the pros!! Good work George. Using the well honed tactic of never scoring a big end, we managed 8 points by wining 1,2,4,5,6 and 7th ends. Of course stealing on a consistent basis wouldn't allow us to pile up points but it required everyone to be good. Mike, your breath would have been taken away when in the 6th Mauro drew to the button behind cover to steal one point. I could hear him mutter, " take that Milinkovic,,, I am the skip and commander. (He did sound a little like Russel Crow). But through all this good news there is a dark cloud. Trouble on 2 fronts..... 1. We ran out of our sponsorship money so it is full pop from here on in 2. We are right in the middle of Group C ...oh yea, the bad part is that all the other names in C are the same as when we ended up in B last year (go figure). Another consistent night and a big tip of the hat to George for his sweeping prowess. I am sure he felt like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest more than once last night and oh yes, thanks to Mauro for making it evident who was the skip....the Front end was kind of wundering why every team would call us Skip. Mark Pioli 02/20/2004 01:31:30 PM Mauro I was accidentally put on this mailing list of something that sounds like fun. Before you can retract the invitation I tentatively accept. I feel like Homer Simpson when he was asked to join the StoneCutters "I saw weird stuff in that place last night. Weird, strange, sick, twisted, eerie, godless, evil stuff, ..& I want in."
