Garth McQueen/CTAL/CTC 01/14/2005 08:53 AM Subject Pioli Papers - January 13th January 13th 8:57pm CTFS first loss slips into the hack January 13th 8:58pm CTFS makes a miraculous comeback to preserve undefeated status Your righ tMark, it was miraculous that their skip missed the house to only manage a tie. Bruce's wrapping prowess was quite extrodinary. The eigth end was all sewed up for them with a pretty bow on top. BUT we are "C" Flight champions and when the good get going (or become absent) we get a tie. I better get the stats up for they really tell the story for a change: CTFS - 8 Trappers - 8 Ends CTFS-4 Trappers-4 Lead 50% Second 50% Third 50% Skip 50% Talk about playing with one armed bandits....had we used both arms last night we would have killed them. I'm not tying my hand behind my back anymore. Yes another tie. It is getting difficult to add some spark to the Papers when outcomes are so predictable. Play like crap, stay in the game, make some shots, hang around, they miss....we tie. Ok we were disadvantaged by playing at 7pm. It really got bad when the front end decided to begin the 7 step program. This is a little different then the one Mike introduced to me...this one was lacking a Pitcher as step 8. So again, sobriety ruined a good game leaving me in a state of belief....belief that all my shots were perfect, belief I had to help call sweeping and the belief I was an undefeated skip. Well, I certainly did see the joy in Bruce's eyes as I called the sweeping instructions...or maybe it was your eye's Mark. It was a little hard to tell with all of them being squeezed so tight. It appeared you guys were holding back some comments...oh I was probably mistaken. Hear, hear, to Skip Bruce who made a miraculous shot in the 6th to bring us within one. Seems our normal skips always get a beauty once a game. Now if Mike had of been there, he still would have had the skip walking the plank by the 5th end. He can be a bit mutinous if the skip's aren't on. So for Mike's benefit I will tell that in the fourth we were down 7-3 and with pure genious I evoked the "let's shake hands" technique to turn the game around. And so we did. Now it was a little in doubt in the eigth, so much so Rob Macdonald remarked "I can't believe I am about to see the streak die". Luckily I finally a good shot to clean up a few things so our opponents should only get 1 to tie (counting on proper play at the back end)....but oh no, that's not our way. Lets give them a chance to win outright. You could see the gleeming in the eyes of CTFS ROCKS (they played beside us and got wupped again..boring for them too) as they delayed their departure to witness our demise. Well screw them, we almost needed squeegies to wipe up all the crap from their pants when they saw we tied. "oooh your so lucky, you got horeshoes up your ass etc" were the catcalls. What they don't realize is that good teams know how to win, C FLight champions don't know how to loose and CTFS ROCKS know they can bite our brooms..... Ok folks, we are off to the land of Realestate...Remax next week...We take an undefeated streak with us and we all know it would be sweet to beat them but I caution us from winning this game. We still need to make the slide and we are running out of time...Let's try not to win this one, I think we can do it..... DO YOU THINK?? Nope, we're too stupid...Lets go C FLight Champions... Bruce Clark/CTAL/CTC 01/14/2005 09:28 AM Mikey: I thought the team would be in trouble when Mauro was having beer before the game instead of only ice tea. As it turned out he played pretty good.Mauro, please continue the trend. Mark was his usual steady self and set a very nice table for our 2nd to take advantage of.The team is still waiting. Garth seemed to have trouble reading the ice (couold he see the ice)which did not stop him from yelling sweeping instructions. One of the days we may listen to him. I sucked!!! As the game progressed and my frustration increased,Garth and I agreed that he should consume many beers before the game as opposed to abstaining. This we agreed would improve his game.Upon further review of the facts I recalled that Garth did not abstain.I think the non drinking before the game needs to be revisted. Our game has progressed to us now complaining about our shots missing by a couple of inches(Bruce,Mauro,Mark) as opposed to "Oh good,it made it over the hog line"(you figure out who) I feel the team has lost confidence in me as a temporary leader hence the offer to Mark to have his turn at skipping.Mark envoked some "godfather" comment (footsoldier) but after Sonny got wasted Michael took control.Mark is Michael and here is hoping that Garth turns out to be Fredo. You enjoy fishing don't you Garth????!!! Mark Pioli/CTAL/CTC 01/14/2005 02:37 PM Don Clarky: I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to skip a curling match, but I must say no. Nuccitelli and McQueen have powerful friends, I just found a dead fish delivered to me in an interoffice envolope. According to Luca Brasi, it's been "five years" since the last skip blood-war, Don Clarky vs. Favero family.
