Subject Best of the Best 

From the Welland paper today, I see that Brian Thorpe is the number one skip at the 
Welland Curling Club. I guess he's happy we didn't join the club as a team. CTFS Men's 
Team beat the best because WE ARE THE BEST !!!

Welland Curling Club crowns flight champions

WELLAND - A few weeks ago Brian Thorpe wondered if his rink belonged in the Welland 
Curling Club’s top division. Last night his foursome walked off with the club championship. 

Thorpe, vice Blake Higgins, second Ron Hall and lead Sylvin Lepine cruised to a 10-2 victory 
in the L. J. Walters A Flight championship.

“We peaked at just the right time of the year,” Thorpe said.

Thorpe, Higgins and Hall teamed up last year and made it to the B Flight championship. 
This year they added Lepine, in just his second year of curling, to the mix.

During the season they were fifth in the six-team A Flight. But in recent weeks they 
started to click. They won their final three league games then caught fire in the playoffs, 
knocking off two higher-placed teams en route to the final.
